Niall O’Hagan Band

Niall O’Hagan

Niall O’Hagan, founding member of the Niall O’Hagan Band began his musical career at the age of 15 in the small town of  Coalisland, Co.Tyrone where he was born and raised. Niall developed a love of music when he picked up the guitar to impress a girl. Needless to say, he hasn’t put the guitar down since. His idols were Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, and Christy Moore to name a few. He later joined an indie-rock band called Foxhound who did very well in a local battle of the bands. This is where he got his taste for the big stage. He soon left Ireland yearning for a bigger adventure in Santa Ponsa, Spain.

He played in the Shamrock Bar with well known bands such as The Waxies, The Music Makers, and even played a few songs with famous artists Philomena Begley and Nathan Carter. After 4 seasons in the sun, Niall ventured to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He soon outgrew the music scene there and traveled on to New York. Since then, he has performed up and down the East Coast in places such as Washington DC, Boston, and Atlantic City. Niall has collaborated with artists such as Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones, Celtic Cross, Two Degrees, Andreas Durkin, Andy Cooney, Vonnie Quinn, Pio Ryan, The Narrowbacks, One Shot Paddy, and The Ribbonmen. He is presently a member of The Ribbonmen, a young Irish rebel rock band. He gladly calls all of these musicians friends and allies.

Niall’s travels have enabled him to cover a huge range of genres and the ability to entertain just about any audience and dedicates himself in every show. His versatility has allowed him to appear in a variety of venues, covering many miles across the states.

Niall’s singing is attributed to his love of his homeland and coming to realize that Irish freedom is not something to take lightly and has become a well known musician in the New York scene. Trad music is also a new found love of Niall’s that he discovered during the Catskills Irish Arts Week. With this new found love, he has recently picked up the bohran again and has been taking lessons from world renowned, Brian Casey.

DONIE RYAN

Donie Ryan was born in County Tipperary, Ireland. He moved to the states over 20 years ago. He met up with Niall and gave him his first gig in New York City. They became friends for life from that moment on. Eventually, they became roommates and later formed the Niall O’Hagan Band. His sweet nature and exceptional skills compliment Niall’s high energy creating the Niall O’Hagan Band. Donnie comes from an Irish musical family, his brother Pio and sister Noreen are also first class musicians. He was raised to love music and his banjo talent is second to none.

CONOR MCGUIRK

Conor McGuirk is the third member of the Niall O’Hagan Band. He is a New York City EMT. He met Niall through their love of music. Conor  was a former member of the band Broken Banjo Strings. He was born and raised in Queens, NY to an Irish American Family. He truly loves the irish music scene. He is able to sing and play the keyboard with astounding talent. Niall and Conor met for the first time minutes prior to performing a gig together. During the show they had instant chemistry and the music they created sounded like they had been playing for years.
